Spaces in Male Prisons Fall to Lowest Level of Year, Sources Say The latest figures from the Ministry of Justice show that available spaces for male inmates have hit an all time low.
As of September 1st, there are approximately 1,500 vacant spots across the estate, a far cry from the 3,040 available at the start of June.
This trend raises questions about the government's plans to tackle overcrowding.
