Drone Warfare Erodes Trust in Colombia's Conflict Zones The Ombudsman's Office in Colombia has reported a 146% increase in drone attacks by armed groups in the first five months of 2026, compared to the same period last year.

This surge in aerial violence has left 21 people dead and 145 others wounded, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict.

The drones themselves are often little more than makeshift contraptions, rigged with explosives by armed groups seeking to demonstrate their strength.
